Our Beliefs

We believe the Bible is the Word of God and that it is without error.  We further believe in the verbal and plenary (though) inspiration of the Scriptures..  The Scriptures are the sole and only authority in all matters of faith and practice at Brush Arbor Baptist Church.  (II Tim. 3:16; Romans 15:4; II Peter 1:20-21)

We believe that God is the Creator and Sustainer of all things.  He is one Person, eternally existing as a Trinity in Unity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  As such, God is three Persons in one God.  (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 8:6)

We believe that Jesus is the eternally existent Son of God.   He became a man completely apart from sin without ceasing to be God.  He was born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, and became the substition for our sin. (Matt. 28:19; Matt 3:17; John 1:1-14; I John 5:7)

We believe that all men and women are born in sin and thus, are sinners by nature and choice.
Salvation is by grace (a gift) through faith (belief) in Jesus Christ only and is available to all who place their faith in Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 10:9; Acts 4:12)

We believe that men are born sinners and are totally depraved, and that if man dies without salvation; he is destined to eternity in Hell. However, if a believer in Christ dies, he has the assurance of eternal life in Heaven. (Genesis 3; Romans 3; Romans 5:12; Psalms 51:5)

We believe that Jesus Christ will be coming again to gather all believers to Himself, and to set up His literal reign on earth. (I Thessalonians 4:16; I Corinthians 15:52)

We believe that Satan is real, and that his whole agenda is to turn man from God. (Isaiah 14:12-25; Ezekiel 28:12, 17; I Peter 5:8-9)

We believe that God created the heavens and the earth in six literal days, and rested on the seventh day. (Genesis 1)

We believe that God created man male and female, that woman was created to be a helpmeet for man, and that the man is the head of the household. (Genesis 2; Ephesians 5:23; I Corinthians 11:3)

We believe that homosexuality, lesbianism, bestiality, incest, "cross dressing", attempting to alter one's gender by surgery, and any form of pornography are sins against God. (Leviticus 18; Romans 1:26-29)

We believe that fornication and adultery are evil and sins against God. (Exodus 20:14; Matthew 5:27; Hebrews 13:4)

We believe in the sanctity of life, and that abortion is a sin against God. (Jeremiah 1:5)

We believe that lawsuits between believers are wrong, and there is a Biblical way to handle disputes. (I Corinthians 6:1-6)
